Chiminea FAQs
How and where can I buy a Chiminea?
Due to the nature of a special edition, limited release, there will allocated stock in Australia of the Big Green Egg Chiminea. The best way to secure one for your home is to reach out to your local dealer to pre-order now.
Should I cover my Chiminea?
Big Green Egg Chimineas are made from durable NASA-grade ceramics, the same as our Kamado Grills. However exposure to elements may increase the appearance of dirt and grime. Our Type H Cover will protect from weather.
What size Firewood should I use?
The Chiminea is intended for the burning of firewood or small manufactured logs. Seasoned hardwood such as oak creates the cleanest burning, most efficient fire in the chiminea (30 – 35cm) in length are ideal.
How do I clean my Chiminea?
To clean your chiminea, allow it to cool completely and remove any ash that has come over the halfway point of the lava rocks. Use a mild detergent and water solution to wipe down the exterior surfaces, followed by a rinse with clean water. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or tools that could scratch the ceramic surface.
Should I place something under my Chiminea?
A chiminea does not direct much heat downward, but the occasional ember or ash will happen with any fire. Chiminea’s are not recommended for use on a wooden deck. If you plan on moving your chiminea frequently, flexible deck protectors, hearth pads or grill mats are lightweight and easily movable. If you want a permanent hearth pad then use cement patio blocks, sometimes called pavers, available at any local home store.
